FDM
(Fused Deposition Modeling)
1 / PLA (Polylactic Acid)
Most commonly used thermoplastic material in FDM 3D printing that is known for its ease of use, affordability, and environmentally friendly nature, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications, from prototyping to finished products.
Pros /
Environmentally friendly and biodegradable
Easy to print with and requires low printing temperature
Low odor while printing
A wide range of colors and finishes are available
Cons /
Not heat-resistant and has a low melting temperature
Can be brittle and is not ideal for items that will be subjected to stress or heavy wear
Use cases /
Toys, figurines, and other decorative items
Prototyping and model making
Household items, such as coasters, candle holders, and vases
(The low melting temperature and ease of printing make it a great choice for these applications where aesthetics are important, and strength and durability are less of a concern.)
Print Temperature Range (°C) /
185 - 225°C
Bed Temperature Range (°C) /
20 - 60°C
